Specialty Projects in the Quad Cities

Custom stairs and railings, contemporary furniture, doors and one-off fabrication. Our facility lets us fabricate and experiment with materials, so the detail that makes a project singular is built by the team that drew it.

The detail nobody else has

Every memorable home has one thing in it that could not have come from a catalog. For us, those are specialty projects: a staircase that reads as sculpture, a table or island made from materials no one expected, a door that sets the tone for the whole house. We have a facility that allows us to both fabricate and experiment with materials, so an idea can be prototyped, tested and refined before it is ever installed.

Stairs, furniture, doors, and more

An open-tread staircase with sculptural blackened-steel rails or a custom stacked-disc metal railing changes the character of a home from the moment you walk in. Furniture works the same way: contemporary pieces in unconventional materials, sized to the room they live in. Doors, built-ins, custom light fixtures and one-off details round out a list that keeps growing.

Built by the team that designed it

A specialty project never passes through a chain of vendors. Concept, drawings, fabrication and install stay with one accountable team, so the piece you approved is the piece that arrives.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Red Box Design build custom stairs and railings in the Quad Cities?

Yes. From open-tread staircases with sculptural blackened-steel rails to stacked-disc metal railings, we design and fabricate stairs as a piece of architecture rather than a catalog part.

Do you make custom furniture?

Yes. Part of our mission is furniture: contemporary pieces that use unconventional materials. Our facility lets us build tables, islands and built-ins designed for your space rather than bought off a showroom floor.

Can you do a specialty project on its own, without a full remodel?

Yes. A staircase, a set of doors, a piece of furniture or a single built-in can stand alone, and many specialty projects grow out of our custom homes and remodels.

What materials do you work with?

Steel, stainless, wood, epoxy, glass, stone and reclaimed or weathered materials. Sometimes a product applied outside its intended use is the better, more economical solution, and our facility lets us test that before it goes into your home.
