We STAY: what staying clean, in contact, and till completion actually means
Three words from the Red Box Design client packet, and the working habits behind each one: a scheduled cleaning time at the end of every day, active client communication, and a finished product we stand behind after we leave.
Three words sum up how Red Box Design works: We STAY. Stay clean. Stay in contact. Stay till completion. Short enough to remember, specific enough to hold us to. Here is what each part means in practice, in our client packet’s own words where we can use them.
Stay clean
From the packet: “We also understand that a neat jobsite reduces client stress; this is ensured by a scheduled cleaning time at the end of every day.”
That is the whole policy. Not “we try to keep it tidy.” A scheduled cleaning time, at the end of every day, on every project. A remodel puts a crew inside a home someone is still living in, and the mess is their hallway. The day is not over until the cleanup is done.
Stay in contact
From the packet: “We understand the importance of customer relations. Our systems allow the job to run as smooth as possible making the experience enjoyable for both parties. With over twenty years of experience in the industry, we can foresee and avoid many potential problems. However, due to the unpredictable nature of construction, we provide a format for dealing with any issues that may arise.”
Two honest things sit in that paragraph. Experience lets us see most problems coming, and construction is unpredictable anyway. Staying in contact means the client hears about it from us. It runs the other way too. On the Mancave Basement in Bettendorf, each meeting surfaced a new need, and the project grew because the conversation stayed open. On the Moody Retreat Bath, we have done enough projects with the client that she brings the ideas and we already know what she is looking for. That kind of shorthand is built one project at a time.
Stay till completion
From the packet: “We have a reputation for great design and quality execution of our projects. Our company relies on and values repeat clients as well as word-of-mouth referrals. We take pride in our work and in customer satisfaction. We want our clients to benefit from our product and to maintain a positive image of us after we leave.”
The phrase that matters is after we leave. Our fourth phase is delivery and handover, closed out with a disciplined walkthrough. Then the real test starts. A deck, a kitchen, a bathroom, a basement: they are used every day for years, and that is the timescale we build for. The Architecture Deck in Bettendorf took plenty of problem solving, and the result is something our clients enjoy daily.
Why we put it in writing
The packet also says: “If the client requests, they may contact past customers for reference. We want the client to feel comfortable and certain in choosing us for their project.” Many of our previous clients are excited to show the projects in person. That is what staying till completion produces: people who will open their door to show a stranger the work.
We STAY is the shortest accurate summary of how we have worked for over two decades.
