Same client, same cabinetry: the Spa Day kitchen and bath
A Bettendorf kitchen remodel in 2020 led to a master bathroom in 2021 for the same clients, built with the same cabinetry line in a calming grey and lighting chosen to match.
The best compliment a remodel can get is a second one. In 2020 we finished a kitchen and dining remodel for a Bettendorf client. In 2021 the same client asked us back for their master bathroom, and the brief was specific: recreate the feeling of the kitchen. We call the pair the Spa Day Kitchen and the Spa Day Bath.
The kitchen came first
The kitchen was about subtraction before finishes. Removing the outdated wooden cabinetry brought the sight lines down, and once the heavy cabinetry was gone the room could breathe.
The finishes keep that calm. Cylinder pendant lights. A grey glass subway tile backsplash. Custom made floating shelves with tile behind them to finish off the coffee nook. Roughly 305 square feet of kitchen and dining, and when you walk in you feel like you are in a spa. That is where the name came from.
Then the bathroom
The brief was simple: make this room feel like that one. So we used the same cabinetry as we did for the kitchen, this time in a calming grey, found vanity lighting similar to the kitchen’s pendants, and finished the look with lighted vanity mirrors.
About 137 square feet, and it reads as a continuation of the kitchen. Walk from one room to the other and you understand that the same hand designed both. That was the point.
What a repeat client changes
You already know the house: where the mechanicals run, how the light moves, which finishes the client gravitates toward. The design conversation starts further along because the trust is already built and the standard is already set.
You also inherit your own decisions. The kitchen’s cabinetry, lighting, and palette became constraints for the bathroom, and good constraints make better rooms.

Continuity is a design-build advantage
Carrying a kitchen’s logic into a bathroom sounds simple. In practice it depends on one team holding the whole thread: the same cabinetry line, the right grey, lighting that matches a pendant chosen one project earlier. Because Red Box Design keeps design, planning, and construction in-house, nothing had to be re-explained between the first project and the second.
