River House
A curved stair, a suspended fireplace, and cast concrete running through a custom home.
In this house the structure is the finish. A curved stair with a slim steel rail rises through the main space, and a suspended round fireplace hangs over a cast concrete hearth set with glass.
The kitchen is wrapped in horizontal wood slat walls, with a wood eating counter cantilevered off the island, and a cast concrete trough sink carries the material into the bath. Pieces like these are fabricated as much as built, and the team that drew them is the team that made them, so every one was resolved before construction started.
